What I know
“Fear and panic are two separate emotions. Fear’s healthy, panic’s deadly.” This quote suggests that you must always stay calm when things get tough. Being scared and knowing you are, but staying in control is very hard to do. Most people fail to do that. But if you can, then you can take on any challenge thrown at you. Panic is what happens when you let fear control you. If you want to be successful, you must stay determined and tell yourself anything is possible.
Soccer is what I know. I am not the best, I am not the worst. But what I know is what it takes to improve and get to the top. “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”-Vince Lombardi. To get good at anything you must accept your weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Once you understand you can understand that you are bad at something, you are one step closer to perfection.
Determination is the key to success. With will power comes hard work, with hard work comes greatness. I know my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to soccer. That is why I will do whatever it takes to become a star player. If I fail at a drill, I will already be asking for help to get better. Determination is the will to get better. But before success comes hard work. Determination is the key to success.
“I hated every minute of training, but I said, don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”-Muhammad Ali. This quote is a perfect example of hard work comes before success. In soccer there is a lot of running and preparation before a game. Most teams today only care about winning. But what really matters is improvement. Some players would rather be benched and be on a winning team, but not my team. My coach’s goal is to push us to see what we are capable of and in my opinion that is what really matters. I want to push to be the best to my ability. That will only come if I am pushed to my very limit. “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.”-Horace.
Acceptance, determination, and hard work are the key traits to being a great soccer player. This philosophy can be applied to any challenge in life. My name is Jacob R and what I know is soccer.
